Introduction

Description of tools and their use

Demonstration of cutting stained and art glass to form geometric and curved mosaic tiles. Students will be able to try their hands.

Patterning techniques - pencil grids, graph paper

Glue and gluing techniques

Filing edges

Grout and grouting

Students will make their own mosaic project which may be a flat work panel (suggested size 18" x 24") or a three dimensional work like a vase (12" high suggested).

Materials Required:

Beginners:

Glasses or safety glasses
Substrate material (plywood, glass vase, etc.)
Glue (Weldbond)
Glass for project (you may purchase on Friday of class)
Grout
Bucket for grout
Grout sponge
Cotton cloth
Stirrer stick for grout

Intermediary:

Glass scorer
Running pliers
Glass pliers
Mosaic wheeled cutters
Rotary mat for cutting
Glass square
Glasses or safety glasses
Substrate material (plywood, glass vase, etc.)
Glue (Weldbond)
Glass for project (you may purchase on Friday of class)
Grout
Bucket for grout
Grout sponge
Cotton cloth
Stirrer stick for grout
